PGCPS Engages the Community in the CIP Process

CIP Comm Engagement MP Meetings 2

The Prince George’s County Board of Education encourages students, families and community members to attend a Community Engagement Master Plan meeting in their area in January to share their vision for future school improvements, renovations and new construction. Staff from the Department of Capital Programs will present information on the current condition of our school facilities and solicit input on the master plan for repairing, renovating and replacing of facilities over the next 10-20 years. Staff will also brief the community on the High School Educational Specification template they are developing in concurrence with the High School Study.

The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. at the following locations:

January 7, 2014
Northern Planning Area
Parkdale HS
6001 Good Luck Road, Riverdale

January 16, 2014
Southern Planning Area
Crossland HS
6901 Temple Hill Road, Temple Hills

January 22, 2014
Central Planning Area
Largo HS
505 Largo Road, Upper Marlboro

The Community Engagement Master Plan meetings provide opportunities for the public to participate in the rewriting of the Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP). Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) staff use the EFMP as a guiding document in developing the annual and six-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The EFMP contains data on the size of each school site, student enrollment, school staffing, facility condition and State Rated Capacity (SRC). The document also contains information on Board policies and procedures for boundary changes and redistricting, closing of schools and student transportation.
