Message from Prince George’s County State’s Attorney:
The next Community in the Courthouse is this Friday, January 24, 2014. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in room 0421M (ground floor) of the Prince George’s County Courthouse located on Main Street in Upper Marlboro.
We will welcome County Executive Rushern Baker. The County Executive and I will discuss our joint crime suppression efforts here in the county. County Executive Baker will give participants an update on crime statistics, and I will discuss our successful conviction rates.
As many of you know, overall crime has declined 27% over the last three years and homicides are down 38% in that same period. In addition, our conviction rates have increased at an impressive rate.
Our homicide conviction rate stands at 93%, a 17% increase in the last three years. Sexual assault convictions are at 85%.
We have seen conviction rates increase across the board and they are a testament to our law enforcement partnerships and the community for doing their civic duty as jurors and coming forward as witnesses to crime.
I am looking forward to a great conversation. Please consider bringing a friend or neighbor to our meeting. I would surely be interested in meeting and welcoming all those who are involved in Prince George’s County.
Sincerely,
Angela D. Alsobrooks
State’s Attorney
