Grab ‘N Go Meals will be distributed to seniors (ages 60 and better) and individuals with disabilities (ages 18 and up) on Wednesday, December 16 from noon to 2:00 PM at seven locations across the County. The Department of Parks and Recreation is also searching for the most festive homes in Prince George’s County this holiday season. Show your holiday spirit by decorating your house and entering the first annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. Winners will be announced and featured on the Department’s Facebook page (@pgparks) on Monday, December 21, 2020. Click here for more information.

In addition, join the Department for a free audio performance of “A Christmas Carol.” Step back in time to Victorian London for a magical tale of ghosts, a change of heart, and the true meaning of the holidays. Learn more here.  

Finally, the Department continues to host the Festival of Lights. To avoid longer than usual wait times, we encourage the public to attend the festival on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening. On Saturday and Sunday, please arrive before 6:00 PM to avoid long wait times. Route 193 is the main entrance to the festival. No left turns are allowed from Route 202 towards Route 214 (must make a U-Turn onto Route 193 to enter). Purchase tickets today at pgparksdirect.com.

With the upcoming holiday season, we want to remind every resident of the Health Department’s COVID-19 holiday guidance. The Health Department advises against holiday gatherings with those outside of your immediate household. Instead, consider holding virtual gatherings with family and friends, such as a virtual holiday dinner. Also, if you plan to do any holiday shopping, consider shopping online rather than in person.
