PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Camp Springs

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Camp Springs. The victim is 50-year-old Calvin Whitting of Goblet Drive in Clinton.

On February 28, 2015, at about 9:45 pm, patrol officers responded to the 5800 block of Allentown Road for a crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, the officers found Whitting in the roadway. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Our preliminary investigation reveals an SUV heading westbound on Allentown Road struck Whitting, who for reasons which are under investigation, was lying in the roadway prior to the collision. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 731-4422.
