How do I Start With my Green Cart?

DoE will host a FREE How do I start with my Green Cart? Virtual Seminar on Thursday, February 23rd at 6:30 p.m. on how to properly use your green cart.

The seminar is open to County residents who receive county-provided trash and recycling services, those who have received a wheeled green cart, and present & future participants in the curbside composting program.

We will discuss how using your green cart helps reduce waste, how to prepare your green cart for collection, acceptable food scraps, and what happens to the collected food scraps.

El Departamento del Medio Ambiente auspiciará un seminario GRATUITO: ¿Cómo Empezar con mi Carrito Verde? El jueves 23 de febrero, a las 6:30 p.m. explicando cómo utilizar apropiadamente su carrito verde.

El seminario está abierto a residentes que reciben servicios de basura y reciclaje proveído por el Condado, a aquellos que recibieron un carrito verde con ruedas y participantes actuales y futuros del programa de compostaje en la acera.

Explicaremos cómo utilizando su carrito verde ayuda a reducir la basura, cómo preparar su carrito verde para recolección, residuos alimenticios aceptables y qué sucede con los residuos alimenticios recolectados.

7th Annual MoMENtum Men and Boys Conference

The Department of Family Services, Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Division is excited to announce its continuation of the MoMENtum Series Men and Boys Conference.  This years’ conference is titled “MoMENtum: Men Realigning and Reconnecting with our Community”.  The conference will elevate the dialogue to educate men and young males on healthy relationships. The conference will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Martin’s Crosswinds, Greenbelt, Maryland.

The keynote presenter will be Dr. John G. Taylor, PhD, M.Ed., MACC, LPC, Author and Assistant Professor in the Urban Public Health and Nutrition Department at LaSalle University. Conference Breakout session topics:

  • Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence: A Community Response
  • Effective Communication Styles, Tools and Resources
  • Youth Led Panel Discussion
  • Women’s Workshop – Vision Board
