“Let’s Talk About CB-48-2020 – Property Tax Increase?” Town Hall (Link)

moving for

District 8 Neighbors,

Many of you have asked for the LINK to view “Let’s Talk About CB-48-2020 – Property Tax Increase?  ZOOM Town Hall”, that my colleagues Council Member Jolene Ivey, District 5, Council Member Tom Dernoga, District 1, and I hosted last night. The three of us voted NO on this charter amendment that could raise your property tax.

I am including four links below for your convenience, 1) ZOOM Town Hall; 2) the PowerPoint shared at the Town Hall and supporting materials; 3) Link to Bill with the June 23rd Committee of the Whole Meeting and our voting; and 4) NBC News story.

I encourage you to watch the Town Hall and hear our perspectives, why we voted NO, and the Q&A with the constituents. It is important for you to watch to discern and decide how this may impact you personally so that you can make your decision. Knowledge is Power and it is vital to share with others.  So, please share with other Prince Georgians, so that they too will be educated on CB-48-2020 before the FINAL VOTE on July 21st.

The Men’s Challenge – While Gyms Are Closed

Good Afternoon,

We are back!   The Department of Family Services is excited to announce the Summer Edition of the Men’s Challenge — Living Together Without Violence Initiative virtually.  If you attended any of the previous sessions, you will agree they were dynamic, informative and revealing discussions! The sessions engaged men and boys on topics like: Healthy Relationships, Legacy of Fatherhood, Veterans Affairs, Mentoring and Child Support.

The first session summer will be held on Monday, June 29th, 2020 at 5:30pm.  Acknowledging June as National Men’s Health Month, the discussion will be a Weight Management Workshop to encourage and support males to live longer and healthier lives.  Mr.  Rodney McIlwain will lead the discussion along with a few demonstrations.

  • Nutrition 101 (Calories in versus calories out)
  • What is Metabolism?
  • How to boost your metabolism.
  • Staying active during quarantine (limited access to gyms)
  • What to remove from your pantry?
  • The importance of sleep for weight management.
  • Q & A

Comfortable clothes and sneakers are recommended but not required.

Looking forward to seeing you next Monday, June 29th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.  Please share the flyer and information with friends and colleagues. For more information, feel free to contact Mr. Elio via email EMWade@co.pg.md.us.
