What’s Going On?

The Office of the Poet Laureate is pleased to announce that Hoke Glover, also known as Yao Glover​/Brother Yao, will be the Featured Poet at the second event of the Poet Laureate Reading Series. This month’s event, which celebrates the rich history of African-Americans, will also feature Youth Poetry Ambassador, Zainab Ahmed, Alto, Christine Jenkins, Djembe Drummer, Doc Powell and Prince George’s Poet Laureate Sistah Joy.

When?

Saturday February 23rd from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Poet Laureate Reading Series

The Poet Laureate Reading Series is a free-to-the-community monthly recurring event that will include at least one featured poet and an open mic. This monthly series will “travel” throughout each of Prince George’s 9 Councilmanic District to provide an opportunity for poets and poetry enthusiasts of all ages and interests to hear and be heard on issues of relevance in their respective communities. Persons of all ages are invited to attend and participate.
