Join YOUR Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, partners and presenters for a FREE, one-day Green Summit! Engage, promote and empower action for tackling various environmental and health issues in our County.

Topics for presentations and workshops include:

  • Curbside composting and how to build your own composting bin
  • Zero waste and waste diversion including upcycling and how to do a home trash audit
  • The Year of the Anacostia campaign
  • Our Summer Youth Enrichment Program
  • Stormwater Best Management Practices including installing a Rain Barrel at home and caring for trees
  • Clean and green housekeeping tips
  • Preparation for adopting a pet, including how to make natural pet treats and the importance of “Scoop that Poop”
  • Tackling litter and illegal dumping in the County
  • The Chesapeake Bay, climate change and the EPA

Labor Day Closures

All county offices are closed in observance of Labor Day (except public safety agencies). Several county services are also suspended or closed. However, residents may still submit service/issue requests online.

Below is a listing of county services that are either suspended or closed as well. 

Closed

No Collection/Service

  • Bulky Trash Collection (Resumes September 4 – by appointment only)
  •  Call-A-Bus (Resumes September 4)
  • Curbside Recycling Collection and Trash Collection in County-Contracted Areas (Regular collections  occur September 4 through September 7)
  • TheBus (Resumes September 4)
  • Yard Waste Collection (Resumes September 10)
