County Waste Collection Services Resume

Residents are advised that services may experience slight delays   

LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of the Environment announces all curbside bulky, regular trash and recycling collections resume Thursday, March 22, 2018.  Residents are advised that due to road and weather-related conditions, collection services may experience slight delays. Every effort will be made to complete all collection service routes not serviced on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 after completion of Thursday’s regularly scheduled collections. Residents are reminded to place their collection receptacles at curbside free of snow and ice.  Please keep in mind that collections can occur anytime from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition, all services located at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill in Upper Marlboro; including the Brown Station Road Public Container Pad and Recycling Area, the Household Hazardous Acceptance Site, the Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site, and scrap tire and appliance disposal sites are open on time.  

The Prince George’s County Organics Composting Facility in Upper Marlboro, Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center in Brandywine and the Materials Recycling Facility in Capitol Heights, are open on time.

Code Blue – Schools are closed. Central Offices will open with two hour delay.

Thursday, March, 22, 2018 – Code Blue – Due to unsafe conditions on roads and walking routes, schools are closed. Central Offices will open with two hour delay. All 12-month personnel are expected to report. A Liberal Leave policy will be in effect for non-emergency personnel.


Jueves, 22 de marzo, 2018 – Código Azul – Dadas las condiciones peligrosas en las carreteras y las ceras, las escuelas estarán cerradas hoy. Oficinas abrirán con dos horas de demora. Todos los empleados de 12 meses deben reportarse al trabajo. Estará vigente la política de licencia liberal para el personal que no es de emergencia.

Wednesday, March 21, 2018 – Code Yellow – Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) – Schools and offices are closed. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL only must report to work.

Today’s Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Technology at DuVal High School Open House Information Session is rescheduled for Monday, March 26, 2018, at 6:00 PM. Please email dhsaero@pgcps.org if you have any additional questions.
